Community Service and Involvement
InternationallyWe are partnered up with Merck Animal Health up to give back to pets and their owners in Africa! For every Rabies vaccine given to a pet at Adair County Animal Hospital, a dog or cat in Africa also receives their Rabies vaccine through Merck's relationship with Mission Rabies and the Rabies Free Africa/ Afya Serengeti Project.

Nursing Home VisitsA little "pet therapy" does a body good! We deliver smiles via tails wags and kitten whiskers to those who are young-at-heart when can slip away from the hustle of the hospital. Small acts of kindness help to brighten and lighten the load for everyone!

In-School Career DaysDr. Shantila Rexroat regularly visits the elementary, middle, and high schools around the area to educate our kids and community about what veterinarians really do and how to best take care of our animals. Animal healthcare is an integral part of human healthcare!

Rabies Vaccine ClinicsCurrently, we hold Rabies vaccine clinics twice a year. Typically during the entire months of January and August. During these times, one year Rabies vaccines are given by our licensed veterinarians at a reduced rate to encourage our community to provide this required vaccine to all animals on their property. We believe animal health and human health go hand in hand.

Co-Founder of G.R.A.W.L.In 2003, Dr. Shantila Rexroat helped establish the Green River Animal Welfare League (GRAWL) with the intentions of bringing an animal shelter to service Adair County and surrounding communities. The formation of GRAWL led to state grants and funding and additional community member donations. The Adair County Animal Shelter was completed and opened in 2006.
