Shantila Frazier, D.V.M. + Owner
Dr. Shantila Rexroat Frazier has proudly served the veterinary profession since 1989. Born and raised on a farm in Columbia, Kentucky, her passion for animals, particularly horses, inspired her career. Dr. Frazier graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She purchased her first veterinary practice, Adair County Animal Hospital, in 1999, and has since expanded her professional footprint significantly.
In 2022, Dr. Frazier acquired All Cats And Dogs Veterinary Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with partner Dr. Allen Craig. In 2024, she extended her professional endeavors by
launching the Bowling Green Veterinary Emergency Clinic in collaboration with two other veterinary partners. That same year, she and Dr. Pettyjohn purchased Cumberland Animal Hospital and Dr. Pettyjohn became a partner at Adair County Animal Hospital. Dr. Frazier now practices on small animals only, with special interest in surgery and geriatric care.
She remains dedicated to providing gold-standard care, actively mentoring associate veterinarians, and continually elevating the quality of veterinary services in her practices.
Outside her veterinary commitments, Dr. Frazier and her husband, O'Shaughnessy Frazier, live on a farm near Columbia with their four dogs and two horses. They have a vibrant blended family with five children: Elizabeth, who attends North Carolina State University College of
Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2028); Isaac (17) and Jackson (13), who both attend school locally; Toni, who resides in Alabama with her two children; and Blane, who is a senior at the University of Kentucky.
Committed to personal and community wellness, Dr. Frazier became certified as a Bungee Fitness instructor in 2024. She and her husband will open Infinity Fitness & Wellness Center in Columbia in 2025, where she looks forward to incorporating her passion for fitness, including
teaching Bungee Fitness classes. Additionally, Dr. Frazier serves as a Key Opinion Leader for Zoetis, highlighting her leadership within the veterinary industry. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, photography, cooking, traveling with her family, listening to audiobooks, and focusing on her health and wellness. Terri PettyJohn, D.V.M. + Owner
Dr. Terri Pettyjohn brings 29 years of veterinary experience, with 19 years as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She is the co-owner of Adair County Animal Hospital and Cumberland Animal Hospital, where she is dedicated to providing the best medical care for pets and educating owners on preventative health strategies. Dr. Pettyjohn earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with double minors in Chemistry and Biology from Western Kentucky University, followed by her DVM from Tuskegee University.
With a passion for small animal medicine, Dr. Pettyjohn specializes in diagnostics and problem-solving, using advanced testing and medical evaluations to determine the best treatment plans for her patients. She loves the challenge of piecing together a pet’s health history, exam findings, and diagnostics to find the right solution—leading to effective treatment and healthier, happier pets.
When not at the hospital, Dr. Pettyjohn, her husband and two children enjoy outdoor activities, traveling, and boating on Lake Cumberland. She is also an avid gardener and landscaper in her free time at her home in Russell Springs. Dr. Pettyjohn’s commitment to excellence in veterinary medicine, client education, and compassionate care make her a valued leader at both Adair County and Cumberland Animal Hospitals.

Mindy C.
Practice Manager
With 23 years of experience in veterinary medicine, Mindy has been a dedicated member of Adair County Animal Hospital since February 2002, while also contributing her expertise at Cumberland Animal Hospital. Holding a BS degree, she plays a key role in keeping the practice running smoothly through inventory management, bookkeeping, staff support, and client interaction. Mindy thrives on the unpredictability of each day and values working with a well-trained, efficient, and happy team. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her seven furry children, as well as relaxing with family and friends—roasting hotdogs and marshmallows over an open fire after dark.

Rebecca S.
Customer Service Rep
Rebecca has been a valued member of the Adair County Animal Hospital team since 2017, bringing 8 years of experience in veterinary medicine. Previously a veterinary assistant, she transitioned into her Customer Service Representative (CSR) role to better assist clients and their pets. She is passionate about client education, laboratory testing, and exotic animal care, always eager to help pet owners understand their pets’ health needs. She especially enjoys days when French Bulldogs or exotic animals are on the schedule, as they are among her favorite patients. Outside of the clinic, Rebecca spends her time with her children on the small farm where she was raised, embracing country life and her love for animals.

Nicole R.
Lead Assistant
Nicole R. is the Lead Veterinary Assistant at Adair County Animal Hospital and has been part of the team since October 2021, bringing nearly a decade of experience in veterinary medicine. She has a passion for emergency medicine, diagnostics, surgery, and exotic animal care, always eager to expand her knowledge and skills. Her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine include performing dentals and dental radiographs, phlebotomy, and assisting in amputation surgeries. Beyond her technical expertise, Nicole values the deep connections she builds with both patients and their owners, ensuring every pet receives compassionate care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and crocheting, a self-taught hobby she’s been perfecting for the past six months.

Velina S.
Kennel Manager
Velina S. has been part of the Adair County Animal Hospital team since 2020, bringing over 25 years of experience in veterinary medicine. As Kennel Manager, she ensures that every pet in her care receives comfort, attention, and top-quality care. She is also a Certified Canine Sports Massage Therapist, specializing in physical therapy and rehabilitation to help pets recover and maintain mobility. Her expertise includes exotic animal care, where she serves as the clinic’s resident bird handler, as well as abscess treatments, laser therapy, and intensive patient care. Velina is passionate about ensuring each pet gets the treatment and support they need to heal and thrive. Outside of work, she enjoys watching classic movies, reading, taking day trips, and meaningful conversations with friends.

Chelsea B.
Veterinary Assistant
Chelsea became part of the Adair County Animal Hospital team in October 2024, marking the start of her journey in veterinary medicine. She has a growing passion for laboratory testing and radiology and is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program with Penn Foster. Her favorite skill to practice is phlebotomy, and she is excited to continue expanding her knowledge in the field. In her free time, Chelsea enjoys painting, quilting, and all things craft-related.

Jennefer
Veterinary Assistant
Jennefer has been a veterinary assistant at Adair County Animal Hospital since November 2022, bringing over two years of experience in veterinary medicine. She has a strong interest in emergency medicine, surgery, client education, laboratory testing, and radiology, always striving to expand her skills. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine? Cutting super long toenails! She enjoys making pets more comfortable while providing excellent care. Outside of work, Jennefer spends her free time baking, crocheting, and reading.

Ida R.
Veterinary Assistant
Ida joined Adair County Animal Hospital in 2024 and has two years of experience in veterinary medicine. She has a passion for laboratory testing, radiology, surgery, and emergency cases, always eager to assist in critical situations. She also has a special interest in geriatric patients and diagnostics, ensuring older pets receive the best possible care. Outside of work, Ida enjoys riding horses, hiking with her dogs, and completing puzzles.
