Equine Herpes Virus outbreak in Western States (5/2011).  This vaccine is part of our recommended annual vaccines for all horses.  EHV-1 should be given annually.

More incidences of Heartworm Positive dogs/cats.  Preventatives brought into question.  The general concensus by the CAPC (Companion Animal Parasite Council) is that the preventatives do work, but they must be given according to the labeled instructions.  In other words, make certain your dog/cat is receiving its once monthly preventative at the appropriate weight dosage.
